Post-Abortion Healing For Men and Women

If you have had an abortion in the past and are suffering from remorse and guilt over it, you are not alone. Men who encouraged their partner to have an abortion, or who were unable to prevent their partner from getting an abortion, also can suffer the pain and guilt of that abortion. Rachels Vineyard is an organization that helps women and men heal from the pain of abortion.

Sometimes wounds fester inside, and as they come to the surface we do our best to ignore them and hope they will go away. But they dont. Some people drink or take drugs to dull the pain. Some people develop chronic anxiety or depression. Some people overload their schedules so they dont have time to think about their demons. The first step is identifying the source of the pain. Only then can the problem be treated properly so that full healing can take place.

There are some wounds that only God can heal, for with God, "All things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). If you bring your pain and suffering to God, and through them develop a relationship with Him, you can be healed. After being healed, many people later see their past suffering as a blessing, because it was the thing that brought them back to a relationship with God, a relationship that finally brings an inner peace and happiness.

Behold, I will bring health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. (Jeremiah 33:6)

Start with confession, going to mass more frequently, and reading the bible. Consider listening to Relevant Radio (950 AM), so that you can learn more about the mercy and healing that God provides. Adoration is a wonderful way to bring your problems to God. At Adoration, He is exposed on the altar, and you can kneel or sit there and have a silent conversation with Him. You tell him your problems and then sit with Him, and allow Him to work in your life and heal you. Nativity has adoration on the first Friday of each month from 6-7 pm. Healing is usually a slow process, probably because we are slow to learn and understand the ways of the Lord.

O Lord, my God, I cried out to you and you healed me. Lord, you brought me up from Sheol; you kept me from going down to the pit. Sing praise to the Lord, you faithful; give thanks to God's holy name. For divine anger lasts but a moment; divine favor lasts a lifetime. At dusk weeping comes for the night; but at dawn there is rejoicing. (Psalm 30:3-6)
