MASS SCHEDULE SURVEY:
Nativity of Our Lord Parish currently
offers 16 regularly-scheduled Masses each
week--which is about twice the number of regular
Masses offered at most parishes. This schedule
includes five Sunday Masses (5:00 p.m. Saturday
anticipatory Mass plus 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00
noon and 5:00 p.m. Sunday). Our schedule includes
one to two more Sunday Masses than surrounding
parishes currently offer.
Because our large church offers
plenty of space for Mass goers, and our 10:00 and
12:00 Masses are not filled (despite the growing
numbers of those attending Mass here), our Parish
Council has proposed and voted favorably for a
combination of the 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon Sunday
Masses. Such a change would begin an 11:00 a.m.
Mass, in lieu of the 10:00 and 12:00 Masses.
We are currently planning to
introduce this change Memorial Day weekend as a
"Summer Schedule." The success of this Mass
schedule change will be assessed by the Parish
Council in fall of 2008.
We hope that those affected by such a
change (parishioners who regularly attend the 10:00
a.m. or 12:00 noon Mass) would not be terribly
inconvenienced by adjusting their Sunday routine by
one hour.
